CAIRO – 12 September 2017: Describing terrorists as “jihadists” instead gives them a value they do not deserve,” said journalism professor Nagwa Kamel at the 23rd International Scientific Conference of Mass Communications at Cairo University Monday.

Kamel, a professor at Cairo University’s Faculty of Mass Communications, accused the Egyptian media of not understanding the concept of a modern state.

Under the name of “mass media and conflict issues,” Cairo University organized on Monday the 23rd Scientific International Conference Oof Mass Communication under the auspices of Cairo Uuniversity rector Mohammed Othman Al- Khasht.

“On today’s media has a role in creating the incidents and prefacing it,” Al- Khast said.” Freedom of journalism means responsibility not libel or misleading the reader so I suggest creating a center to rumors handling, “Al- Khast added.

Ahmed Yousef, the head of institute of Arab research and studies, stated that mass media are exploiting politically to manage the conflict and the clear example is Al Jazeera channel and there are some situations that using military is difficult and using the soft power is the proper status such as cold war.

Mokram Mohamed Ahmed, head of supreme council for media regulation, said that we need a media youth who can perceive what happens in the world now and if we made perfect studies and researches we will find terror.
