CAIRO - 10 September 2017: The head of the Muslim Council of Elders and Al-Azhar Grand Imam; Ahmad al-Tayyib met with Chancellor Angela Mirkel Sunday to discuss the Rohingya Crisis.

Sheikh al-Tayyib initiated his visit to Germany with the intent to participate in the "Peace Roads" conference in Munster City.

The scheduled meeting will tackle the mutual cooperation between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Germany, in addition to other topics, such as the suffering of Rohingya Muslims in Burma.

Other Initiatives were taken earlier in attempt to end Rohingya suffering. In a stern worded tone, speaker of the Arab Parliament called on the United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take urgent and immediate action to stop the massacres of Rohingya Muslims in Arakan (Rakhine region) and bring the perpetrators to the International Criminal Court for committing crimes against humanity.
