CAIRO - 7 September 2017: Speaker of the Arab Parliament called on international organizations to take immediate action to stop the suffering of Rohingya Muslims.

In a strongly worded tone, speaker of the Arab Parliament called on the United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take urgent and immediate action to stop the massacres of Rohingya Muslims in Arakan (Rakhine region) and bring the perpetrators to the International Criminal Court for committing crimes against humanity.

Expressing regret over the continued killing of innocent civilians, the speaker of the Arab parliament stressed that what is happening in Myanmar against Rohingya Muslims minority is a systematic ethnic and religious cleansing; especially women and children, while the world stands witnessing.

The speaker showed deep sorrow and concern to the international silence these grave violations warrant.

The escalation of these brutal attacks came two days after the former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan handed over to the Government of Myanmar a final fact-finding report on the violence against Rohingya Muslims in Arakan.
