CAIRO – 29 August 2017: 14 people were killed and 42 were injured when a tourist bus collided with a pick-up truck then plunged from an overpass of the main road linking Beni Suef with Cairo onto the road below on Tuesday, according to Egypt’s Health Ministry.

The tourist bus, owned by a private tourist company, was carrying 62 passengers. The bus crashed with the truck and both plunged.

The dead and the injured were transferred to public Beni Suef hospital and Nasser Central hospital, said the spokesman of Egypt’s Health Ministry adding that three of the injured were in a serious condition and in intensive care.

Nearly 12,000 people die annually in Egypt due to car accidents as the roads in Egypt are poorly maintained, according to World Health Organization.
