Ministry of Education to offer school meals by November

29 August 2017: New lunch meals will be introduced to kindergarten and primary school students in the second week of the forthcoming educational year, Randa Halawa, an official source at the Ministry of Education, stated on Monday.

A limited number of suppliers will be chosen, according to terms and standards the minister and the parties responsible for the meals set earlier. The meals should never be stored in schools or at the manufacturers, Halawa said.

She announced earlier that the school meals will be changed with the beginning of the new academic year.

In statements to Egypt Today, Halawa affirmed that the new food strategy is aiming to avoid the food poisoning incidents that took place last year.
