TOKYO - 27 August 2017: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Marks Diocese said his visit to Japan is the first of its kind.

In a speech at Osaka International Airport, the Pope hailed the Japanese people and Japan for approving the establishment of the first Egyptian church in the Asian country.

He also thanked Japan’s Foreign Ministry, the Egyptian Ambassador to Japan and those who prepared for his visit.

He asserted that he is happy to be in Japan and wished to see the attendees in Egypt soon.

On Friday, the pope headed for the UAE en route to Japan on a two-week trip that will take him also to Australia.
