CAIRO – 25 August 2017: The Egyptian law enforcement forces of the second field army have killed six takfiris and injured four other terrorists, as part of a military operation within the Egyptian army’s major efforts to secure the borders and combat terrorism.

The forces have successfully managed to destroy 12 outposts, where over 350 explosives were found, seven vehicles and 13 motorcycles, as well as three ammunition stores.

A wooden-lined tunnel along the eastern border of North Sinai has been detected and destroyed.

Unrest escalated in North Sinai following the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi. Clashes between the armed forces and Islamic State-affiliated militants have increased ever since, especially in Al-Arish and Sheikh Zuweid.
