CAIRO - 20 August 2017: The Qatari royal family member Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani refuted through his recent account on Twitter a statement made by Qatar’s Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

“With all due respect to the Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, he was misled, as I have not proposed any personal matter during my meeting with King Salman bin Abdel Aziz of Saudi Arabia and the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman,” a statement published by Al-Thani’s Twitter account said on Sunday.

The Twitter statement added, “My goal was to ease Qatari pilgrims’ burdens, facilitate the Qatari people’s visits to their relatives inside Saudi Arabia, and allow them to check on their properties in KSA.”

Sheikh Abdullah expressed his appreciation to the Saudi King’s quick response to his mediation by approving to open the Salwa border crossing for the entry of Qatari pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's territories without electronic permits.

He also referred to a special operations room staffed by Saudis to cater to Qataris’ affairs and will be under his supervision while countries’ ties are currently severed.

Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said earlier on Saturday that Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al-Thani’s meeting with the Saudi King was held for personal matters linked to the first.
