CAIRO- 10 August 2017: The Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr and Dr. Ali Gomaa, member of Long Live Egypt “Tahya Misr” Fund's executive committee, visited on Thursday the developing slums in al-Assal area Which are funded by Tahya Masr by L.E 91 million one three stages.

Tahya Masr Fund has financed developing slums in al-Assal area project which will be implemented on three stages. The first and second phases have been completed and the third phase of the project has been approved.

This project aims to rehabilitate the dilapidated houses and develop al-Assal market to provide opportunities for youth. The development project will also include providing drinking water, sanitation, electricity, re-planning of streets and buildings, upgrading technical efficiency, maintenance of damaged properties, and paving and lighting of internal roads.

The third phase of the project is expected to be completed in October, and it includes the development of 79 properties and the introduction of sewage works and the development of the market.

At the end of the visit, the minister along with Dr. Ali Gomaa handed over 37 properties to the citizens in al-Assal area.

Nasr stressed that the Fund is working in accordance with orders of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to support the development of hazardous slums and improve the standard of living of citizens. This comes to implement the urgent plans to take into consideration the social dimension of citizens residing in these areas.

Gomaa stated that human development can only take place with the cooperation of government agencies, the private sector and civil society.
