UAE official: Yemeni elite forces launch major operation against Al Qaeda

ABU DHABI - 3 August 2017: The Yemeni elite forces, backed by the US and UAE troops, have launched a major military operation against Al Qaeda terrorist group in Shabwah governorate in southern Yemen, an official Emirati source said on Thursday.

The report was carried by Sky News with no more details.

Al Qaeda militants moved into Shabwah governorate after successive defeats they had suffered at the hands of the Saudi-led coalition forces in Mukalla governorate in 2016.
