Army foils terror attack on military unit in northern military zone

CAIRO - 26 July 2017: The army said on Wednesday that its forces managed to thwart an attempt by terrorists to attack a military unit which is located within the northern military zone.

A booby-trapped 4WD pick-up laden with more than 1.5 tons of explosives attempted to storm the unit, but the forces managed to kill its driver who was wearing an explosive belt.

Experts from the military engineering services defused the explosives which have been packed with a huge amount of nuts and bolts meant to cause greater loss of life.
