CAIRO – 26 July 2017: Twenty four shelters for terrorists in North Sinai were destroyed by the army forces affiliated to the second field army Wednesday morning, according to army spokesperson Tamer El-Refai.

He added in an official statement that this military operation comes within “haq’ Al-Sahaied” (the martyr right) campaign which was lunched 8 days ago.

The continued effort of the armed forces aims to eliminate the takfiri elements in north and middle Sinai according to the statement. “During the past eight days about forty terrorists were killed, 5 arrested, twenty armored vehicles, and four motorcycles were destroyed,” the statement read.

On July 16, the armed forces affiliated to the third field army succeeded to kill three dangerous takfiris and arrested one other during a shootout in a sweeping operation inside central Sinai. Also on July7, Egypt’s military forces killed at least 40 militants who had attempted to attack several checkpoints in North Sinai.

During the confrontations, a car bombing attacked a number of military troops, killing and injuring 26 personnel, Refaei added in his statement.
