CAIRO –23 July 2017: The Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, called the Council of Senior Scholars for an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the Israeli occupation violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“The meeting is expected to discuss “the escalating Zionist violations against the defenseless Palestinian people and Islamic holy shrine in recent days, in addition to the ongoing attempts by the Zionist occupation to Judaize Jerusalem and the temporal and spatial division of Al Aqsa Mosque and cynical attempts to control it.”Reports Youm7 Sunday

The meeting, to be held on July 25, will also discuss the role of the nation’s scholars in addressing these violations against the first Qibla, the third holy shrine of Islam and how to deal with the issue to safeguard the Palestinian people’s rights.

Violence broke out after tensions soared following two Israeli policemen being killed a week ago by three Israeli Arab gunmen who were also shot dead by Israeli troops.

On Friday, a Palestinian young man stabbed three Israelis to death in the Halamish settlement after he infiltrated their home. He was caught and shot.
