DAMASCUS– 20 July 2017: As many as 54 Syrians were killed in airstrikes launched by the US-led coalition and Russia in Raqqa city and its eastern countryside, Syrian activists reported on Thursday.

Over the past two days, the Syrian city of Raqqa was a scene of 70 airstrikes conducted by the US-led coalition and Russia, said the activists.

Some 800 artillery shells were fired by the Syrian Democratic Force (SDF) in the city, the activists added.

Out of the 54, 14 Syrian civilians were killed in explosions caused by mines planted by Daesh militants in the city, the activists noted.
