CAIRO – 19 July 2017: After four firefighters being rushed to the hospital for smoke inhalation, Magdy Fouad Hegazy, Governor of Aswan, told Egypt Today on Wednesday that the Edfu market fire is contained.

A huge fire erupted early morning on Wednesday in the town market of Edfu in the governorate of Aswan.

National armed forced, in addition to firefighters, helicopters and twenty firefighting vehicles were dispatched to help extinguish the fire that spread to dozens of shops and four residential blocks, as reported by MENA.

Hegazy noted that the dedicated firefighters sent to the hospital have been released.

An ad-hoc committee was formed to follow up with the situation developments, recording of damages and human losses. There have been no reports of fatalities at the time of writing.
