CAIRO – 19 July 2017: Gaza’s Ministry of Interior is cracking down on national security threats at its borders with both Egypt and Israel, the general commander of the Gaza Strip’s security sector, Tawfeq Abou Naem, said on Monday.

During the graduation ceremony at Palestinian Ribat University College, Naem gave assurances that Gaza's Interior Ministry and National Security along with all its security bodies will maintain the borders of the country and confront all elements attempting to infringe upon the country's security.

The Ministry of Interior needs a Marine Navigation sector in order to control and protect the maritime boundary of Gaza from threats coming by sea, Naem said.

The comments come the day after an Egyptian security delegation reportedly arrived in Gaza.
