CAIRO – 16 July 2017: Egypt’s Ambassador to Canada Moataz Zahran on Sunday opened the activities of an Egyptian festival in the capital Ottawa, as part of current celebrations of the 150th anniversary of the confederation.

The festival also marks the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Several Canadian lawmakers and officials took part in the event, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Egypt is keen on partaking in the Canadian celebrations, which reflects the good bilateral ties, Zahran said.

He added that the Egyptian Embassy cooperated with its community and citizens in Ottawa, and the Saint Mary Coptic Orthodox Church to organize the festival.

The festival will run until Wednesday and it has pavilions to showcase Egyptian products including cultural and heritage ones.
