CAIRO – 15 July 2017: Metro commuters passing through Al-Ataba and Shohada station can say hi to the "Smart Kiosks" installed in the stations three days ago.

Installing the "smart kiosk" or vending machines at metro stations was originally thought up by a group of senior students at the Faculty of Commerce, English section, with an aim at fighting anti-profiteering and offering people the grab-and-go food items at their original prices.

One of the students stated that their project initially came with budget hitches unit it captured the interest of a Cairo-based businessman, adding that the machine can read banknotes besides metal coins.

The new kiosks or the new vending machines can offer snacks, food, and beverages in return for coins or banknotes.
