CAIRO – 14 July 2017: An officer, policeman and three conscripts were killed early Friday morning after masked men opened fire at Abu Seir security checkpoint in Badrashin city in Giza.

The attackers reportedly tried to spill inflammatory substance on the bodies of the victims, while the resident stopped them. The perpetrators fled the scene after fire exchange with the police; a police hunt was immediately launched to arrest them.

The Ministry of Interior announced later that three unknown men shot dead the police personnel in the checkpoint, according to a press statement.

Surveillance cameras of a petrol station near the attack site showed that the shooters stole walkie-talkies and weapons that were in possession of the five victims, according to security sources.

Grand Mufti of Egypt Shawki Allam released a statement Friday denouncing the terror attack.

Last week, a terror attack launched in Sinai, on an Egyptian Armed Forces checkpoint in Rafah, North Sinai left 26 Egyptian soldiers dead and many more injured.
