Digital health is witnessing significant development in Egypt, Cabinet

CAIRO – 22 October 2021: Egypt’s Cabinet media center said Friday that the digital health sector is witnessing significant growth and tangible development with the aim of improving the standard of health care in the country.

It was added that the digital health depends on using artificial intelligence technologies, mobile computing, and wearable devices to improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare, and accordingly, the digital health sector has achieved a rapidly growth and development.

It explained that the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has given the countries all around the world a great incentive to accelerate the adoption of digital health technologies.

Egypt recorded Thursday 883 COVID-19 infections, and 46 deaths as well as 819 recoveries at isolation hospitals.

As such, the total figures became 321,967 infections, 18,151 deaths, and 271,792 recoveries.

Egypt’s Health Ministry said citizens will receive a booster anti-COVID-19 vaccine jab a year or more after receiving the original two doses.

President's Consultant for Health Affairs Awad Tag el-Din stated in a phone-in Wednesday that 21 million citizens got 32 million doses of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine as a portion of them have not received the second dose yet.

Tag el-Din added that the fourth wave in Egypt has not ended yet, noting it is still not so bad, which has allowed schools to operate normally.On Saturday, Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said unvaccinated employees will not be allowed to enter to workplace within a short period of time.

Madbouly, in a meeting with governors, affirmed the availability of vaccine doses, urging governors to make sure all employees in the administrative bodies are vaccinated.

The premier urged governors to intensify awareness campaign regarding the importance of vaccination, especially in light of the Ministry of Health’s readiness to provide the required vaccine doses.

Earlier this month, Spokesman for the Ministry of Health Khaled Megahed said Egypt will soon manufacture the US coronavirus vaccine Moderna.

He told Egypt Today that the negotiations are underway with the parent company in this regard.
