BENGHAZI – 6 July 2017: The Libyan army's commander Khalifa Haftar announced on Wednesday the liberation of the whole city of Benghazi from "all terrorist groups".

In a speech on the occasion, Haftar thanked "the national army" for the full liberation of the city, saying that the city "enters as off today a new era of security, peace, reconciliation and construction."

"We have broken the restrictions of coercion, humiliation and fear which terrorism sought to establish in our spirits," said the veteran commander.

"The continued struggle against terrorism and its... lasted for more than three years without halt during which citizens suffered the bitterness of the war," he said.

He hailed the sacrifices of the army for maintain the country.
