CAIRO – 5 July 2017: The parliament, under Speaker Ali Abdel Aal, approved a bill to amend some provisions of the law no.68 of 1976 to monitor precious metals and gemstones.

The draft law, agreed upon in a plenary session, stipulates that a jail term ranging between two years and five years should be imposed on those who plot to encroach on the precious metals and gemstones.

Also, it calls for benefiting from all minerals and establishing scientific foundations to explore for natural resources, as well as attracting investments in this field
