CAIRO – 6 April 2021: A total of 928,000 people in Egypt have registered online to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Employees and workers at the tourism sector will be vaccinated as of Wednesday in both South Sinai and Red Sea governorates.

“We are keen on vaccinating all workers at vital sectors, who deal directly with citizens,” read a statement by the Ministry of Health.  

The Ministry of Health has increased the number of centers providing the vaccines by 200 new centers, to raise the total number to more than 300 centers across the country.

Ninety percent of the elderly people with three chronic diseases who registered were vaccinated, while those who suffer from two chronic diseases, 80 percent of them were vaccinated thus far.

“A total of 177,000 people were vaccinated at the centers affiliated with the Ministry of Health,” said a statement.

The third wave of Coronavirus has started in Egypt, with authorities stressing the importance of adherence to precautionary measures to protect ourselves from the spread of the virus.
